I am a photographer based in Montréal, Québec, with a passion for visual and all other arts.

Hello there! My name is Ian Hamilton, and to put it simply, I love the arts. Growing up around creative media and being saturated in new groundbreaking movies, tv, video games, music and art, I learned to love and appreciate the work that went behind these expressive endeavours first as an admirative spectator, then second as a student, and third as a creator. While this has led to me having way too many hobbies than I have time for, it also helped me to realize that I want to work in a field where I have creative freedom for producing what I so clearly see in my imagination.

When I was young I developed my taste for all of the above, anything I could do to express my passions and ideas and get people to see them the same way. I’ve played numerous instruments over the years which helps me develop backing tracks to my videos. I’ve remained relatively active and always sought after sports that gave me a sense of freedom and expression like skateboarding and skiing and martial arts, where the competition is always with yourself.

I’ve been obsessed with visual stimuli for as long as my brain lets me remember, which sparked my interest in photography as a medium in my late high school years. 

I joined the Dawson Professional Photography Program after high school to learn more about photography, but it opened up the doors to my love for writing, sketching, digital arts, and funnily enough back around to video multimedia and music.

I work as an photography and lighting assistant. My personal work stems from my inspiration and appreciation of the media I consume, filled with moodier tones and potential narrative. 

Over the years I’ve managed to cultivate a valuable skill set in not only photography, but studio work, video, audio, digital arts, drawing, and creative on set problem solving. I love puzzles, and finally getting something to work or look the way I envisioned has no parallel in terms of satisfaction. As much as I am a generalist, I tend to be a perfectionist, and when I set eyes on a project I give it all I can to realize it to the best of my ability, and that’s something I strive to do for my work.
